Situated in South East Devon, on the edge of the quiet, unspoilt village of Knowle, near the charming coastal town of Budleigh Salterton, Badgers Den holiday cottage, Grade II listed by English Heritage, is ideally placed to enjoy the beautiful Devon countryside and coast.

Only one mile from the beach, shops and coastal path this traditional Devon thatched cottage, with its own pretty garden, enjoys a secluded position in an area of outstanding natural beauty, for a relaxing and tranquil holiday. Leo and Mandy Dickinson, the owners, Live in the adjacent ‘Fudge Cottage’ famous for making the local Devon clotted cream Fudge in the 1950’s.

Your Ideal Holiday Cottage

The Cottage is furnished to a very high standard, with a well equipped kitchen providing all the modern conveniences. Badgers Den can be hired as a two bedroom cottage or three bedroom with extra en-suite, sleeping up to six people plus a baby in the cot. We do accept pets for a small charge.

The area has something to offer everyone with local beaches, walking the Jurassic coastline, or on the nearby Woodbury Common, birdwatching on the Exe and the Otter Estuary Nature reserve. There are also a number of excellent golf courses, a riding stables, Bicton Gardens with its miniature railway and Crealy Adventure Park.

The cottage also makes an ideal base for visiting further afield. Dartmoor is less than an hour drive, Exeter has its Cathedral, designer shops and bistros, and there are many National Trust and similar properties nearby. The Eden Project or the Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall can be visited on a day trip.

A welcome Devon cream tea is provided on arrival for all week long bookings. We have created a local information guide which has ideas and information on local activities, walks and restaurants. Badger’s Den is a non-smoking establishment with off road parking available for up to two cars.

We loved the is characterful cottage. Delightfully appointed accomodation and cosy for winter stays. We had a wonderful Christmas stay and Mandy and Leo did so much to make us feel welcome . Dog was welcomed too by 2 lovely host dogs! We loved the position with easy access to Devon’s Beaches and Exeter and Woodbury Common. I will come again I hope but my elderly relatives much enjoyed their Christmas holiday here! Thanks so much.

This is a great cosy cottage in a wonderful peaceful location but easy access to Exmouth and Devon. Every need is catered for down to the very last detail. Mandy and Leo are very welcoming with a cream tea on arrival. Honey and Sooty their Labradors were very friendly with our dog and we walked with Leo who showed us the beautiful countryside. There is a pub within walking distance and the beach close by. It was a wonderful restful stay and we will visit again.

The cottage was wonderful and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The location is the perfect breath of fresh air away from city life. Will definitely be visiting again!

Badgersden is a lovely thatched, chocolate box cottage, set in a lovely country lane and only a few minutes from Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth, Budleigh to Exmouth cycle path and the Jurassic Coast Path. We have rented cottages for many years and we consider ourselves to be quite choosy. Badgersden is without doubt, one of the best cottages we have stayed in. We will be staying again and we would recommend the cottage to anyone.
